The Birthday Closet is a heartwarming program that provides FREE birthday gifts at The Co-Parenting Hub designed to ensure every child feels celebrated on their birthday—no matter their family's circumstances.

  • Free Gifts for Children: Families in need can shop our curated closet to pick up to 3 special birthday gift for their child ages 1-18.

  • Gift Wrapping Station: Parents can wrap the gift right on-site with love and care.

  • Support During Birthday Exchanges: If a child is transitioning between parents on their birthday, both parents are encouraged to:

    •  Sing “Happy Birthday” together

    •  Give one thoughtful gift each

    •  Create a calm, joyful moment

    • Take a photo to capture the memory (optional)

How the Birthday Closet Helps Parents in Need

For many families navigating co-parenting or financial hardship, celebrating a child’s birthday can come with stress, guilt, or unmet expectations. The Birthday Closet exists to lift that burde, offering practical support and emotional relief for parents who want to make their child feel special, even when resources are tight.

Instead of worrying about it how to afford a present, parents can visit our Birthday Closet and select a thoughtful, age-appropriate gift for their child—free of charge and without judgment. We believe no parent should have to choose between paying bills and celebrating their child.

Every gift in the Birthday Closet is donated with care, creating an opportunity for parents to give their child something that feels personal, joyful, and exciting. From toys and books to craft kits and cozy items, each item represents love and intentional.

  • Encourages shared birthday moments when co-parents participate together

  • Ensures that every child, regardless of their family’s income, gets to feel celebrated and cherished

Eligibility for The Birthday Closet (Free Gift Program)

Families are eligible to receive free birthday gifts through

The Birthday Closet if they meet any of the following criteria:

 

 Eligible Participants:

  • Active clients of The Co-Parenting Hub 

    • Participating in visitation services, classes, or workshops

    • Referred by a Hub partner (e.g. DSS, courts, or school counselor)

  • Parents or guardians receiving public assistance

    • Medicaid / EBT / WIC / SSI / Section 8
      (photo of card or award letter may be requested)

  • Teen parents or foster parents

    • Automatically eligible with school ID, social worker referral,

             or proof of foster placement

Families facing temporary hardship

  • Loss of job, housing transition, illness, or other crisis situations
    (Self-declared, no documentation required , we trust our families)
